Meet Niles, a beautiful and unique handmade fabric baby doll. He is UKCA tested and certified as safe from birth. Niles is 11 inches (28cm) from head to toe. He has been made using Waldorf Inspired traditional doll making techniques.
What you receive:
You will receive this unique fabric baby doll together with his two outfits and a nappy, in a beautiful presentation gift box.
Baby Nile’s outfits are:
1)a blue and white onesie with yellow collar and cuffs, + a gold velour hat with an orange lining
2) a brightly coloured bodysuit with a pattern of triangles on it, together with two white velour sock booties with gold blanket stitch embroidered ankle tops.
Baby’s body is stuffed with pure wool. Baby’s inner head is created using traditional Waldorf head rolling techniques, again using pure wool.
Baby’s skin has been created using De Witte Engel doll making fabric. His face is gently needle felted and his eyes and mouth are hand embroidered.
Baby’s hair is a mohair wig created from Steiff Schulte Mohair fabric. This wig is securely sewn to his head. His hair can be gently brushed and styled and is safe for the youngest hands.
Baby has been created using my own UKCA tested Roly Poly baby pattern. Baby’s clothes have been created using La Chulona Dolls clothing patterns.
Baby’s arms and legs have fabric joints allowing them to move very freely, meaning the doll can be dressed and undressed.
Baby’s body, hands and feet are kept deliberately simple to allow children to imagine and play freely as described and encouraged in Waldorf teaching. Baby’s face, hands and feet have been gently coloured using Caran d’ache neo-colour wax pastels. These pastels are CE marked and EN71 compliant, guaranteeing safe use for children. Over a long period of time, this colouring may naturally fade a little, but if needed it can be re-applied using a soft piece of fabric. Baby can be spot cleaned (ideally) or gently handwashed. If necessary baby can be washed in a machine in a mesh bag on a delicates cycle.
